Name: Peridot
Age: Young for a gem, probably around 100 or so years.
AU/PG/CANON/OC: Steven Universe - Canon

Summary:

• Peridot is on the low end of the scale in the Homeworld Caste System


• Technician and Certified Kindergardener


• Kindergarden is where they grow gems


• Was sent to Earth to check on The Cluster


• The Cluster is a forced fusion of millions of gems that will destroy Earth and everything on it if it awakens


• The Crystal Gems happened and kept on happening to her, leading to her current predicament


History:
Peridot was first given the order to check on The Cluster inside Earth. However, she first decided to send Red Eye to scout things out to see if there were any crystal gems. Upon no confirmation, she attempted to travel to Earth by way of teleport pad. However, the link was broken, so she began sending out robots to earth so the teleport could be repaired. When done so, she teleported to earth only to discover that the teleport pad room had been compromise and immediately returned to Homeworld.

Deciding to play things safe for now, she sent more robots to earth and directed them to Kindergarden. Safe at Homeworld, her robots activated the power and allowed Peridot free reign over the Kindergarden. However, her work was interrupted once again when Steven and The Crystal Gems made their appearance. Peridot yelled at them for destroying her things while they destroyed her things. Right before Amethyst smashed the power out, Peridot warned that she'll report this unwanted impediment to Homeworld.

After that, Peridot encountered Lapis Lazuli and was ordered to go back to earth with an escort, Jasper. However, upon Jasper meeting Steven, things went Awry for Peridot. The Crystal Gems and Steven were taken as prisoner and Jasper ordered the ship to go back to Homeworld. Steven escaped confinement and released the other gems, causing her ship to explode. Before it did, she managed to evacuate via escape pod and crash landed on earth, becoming stranded on it.

Thus began Peridot's desperation to get off Earth. Her escape pod didn't work for her anymore, so she tried turning to a distress signal. That didn't work, either, because it was destroyed by The Crystal Gems. Constant setbacks and things being destroyed and her being interrupted by The Crystal Gems lead to her leading them to a death trap to try and kill them so she can escape. That didn't work, either.

The last attempt she made was to kidnap Steven and force him to use his healing powers to fix the warp pad back to Homeworld. That promptly failed, and Peridot broke down, believing herself doomed to die when The Cluster finally awakened. The Crystal gems, of course, showed up once again and finally managed to poof her, leaving her limb enhancements behind as she was transported back into the temple.

Steven released her from the bubble containing her and managed to escape... right into the bathroom. There, they were at am impasse until Steven managed to coax her out, befriend her, and lead her to Kindergarden so she could actually explain what The Cluster is. But without help from the other gems, nothing could be done. Peridot swallowed her frustrations and told the rest of the group about The Cluster. This lead to them declaring a truce and going to Greg's old barn in order to build something to deactivate The Cluster. Things slowly progressed as Peridot beat Pearl in a robot-off and befriend Amethyst.

Personality:

Peridot likes to be cold, calculating, and analytical. She's very intelligent and generally holds no empathy for anyone but herself and the dead. She casually disregards feelings as if they're nothing to her. Maybe she thinks those feelings don't exist. However, she's not calm and collected all the time. She gets easily frustrated when things don't go her way and will burst out yelling and grumbling whenever something displeases her.

She also enjoys being very haughty and enjoys bragging about herself and her accomplishments. She greatly enjoys taunting others when they fail or don't meet her standards. She has a mouth that runs much, much faster than her brain and is extremely insensitive to what others feel, which could get her into trouble.

Despite her bragging, Peridot is very cowardly and relies heavily on technology in order to aid her escape... and just technology in general. She's heavily unused to technology that's not as advanced as what's on Homeworld and will often screw things up due to unfamiliarity. She's extremely unused to fighting, and not even fully accustomed to even the combative abilities of the limb enhancements she once had. She prefers to run away and hide behind something that's able to protect her instead of rushing into the fray or even just standing her ground and defending herself.

Life on Homeworld has been extremely tough for her. She has little to no self-confidence and needed to rely on her technology in order to feel some amount of self-importance and confidence. When she lost them, she went from feeling manageable for herself to feeling very insecure and small. She doesn't really take things well when she fails, blaming herself for everything that went wrong when it's clear there's no one else to shift the blame on. Through everything she's been and nearly losing her friendship with Amethyst, she believes she's defective.

Gem Considerations:

Peridot, obviously

Peridot is said to be a stone that increases self-confidence and help let go of bitter feelings and anger. Peridot will eventually gain the self-confidence she desperately wants and will slowly become happier and happier with her current situation. However, Peridot has inadvertently helped others in doing this, as evidenced by Garnet and Pearl making things up between each other as Peridot was trying to kill them. She may accidentally help others in this regard as well.

Power considerations:

Peridot won't be affected by the powercap at all. She's too used to using technology to do everything for her and has never even used a single bit of gem magic except for regenerating when poofed. She has no idea what her natural gem powers are and doesn't even know what her gem weapon is. (It'll be a scythe). She's lost her limb enhancements, so having nothing and going to nothing won't affect her at all.

What WILL affect her is her realizing that she can do natural gem magic, She'll be very surprised that she can do it at first, then will gleefully accept whatever new powers come to her.
